Legendary printing company goes bankrupt
Morriss Printing, a once thriving Victoria-based printing company, is bankrupt according to a statement submitted by the firm’s trustee to select individuals, according to VibrantVictoria.ca forum member “rjag.”
Morriss Printing’s 50 years in operation made it one of Victoria’s oldest companies and news of the bankruptcy has already begun to strike a chord in the community. Robert Randall, Chair of the Downtown (Victoria) Residents’ Association, said the news of the company’s situation was “terrible,” and added that Morriss had been a “legendary company.”
Forum member “Bingo” wrote that Morriss’ heyday was in the 1960’s and the company’s achievement as one of North America’s premier book publishers was a thing of the past. According to “Bingo,” the firm’s acquisition by Victoria-based Rolex Plastics may have signaled the beginning of the end.
