Oak Bay Beach Hotel | 8-storeys | Hotel, residential, commercial

Return to the Construction Projects list.

Oak-Bay-Beach-HotelThe Oak Bay Beach Hotel redevelopment project is replacing what used to be the old Oak Bay Beach Hotel, a low-rise structure built in the early 20th Century along Oak Bay’s eastern shoreline.

Following a contentious approval process that saw the hotel shortened by several floors, developer Kevin Walker demolished the old hotel in 2007 only to be caught up in escalating construction costs of the new building.

In 2009 investment bonds were offered to help secure financing for the project, and excavation began in October 2009.

PS Talking about rumours I have heard that hometown hero David Foster and his charitable Foundation is planning a major star studded event for the opening next year.

It is not a rumour, and the event scheduled for May 25 was announced a few months ago.
