One announced candidate so far, but I know of at least two other people who might run http://www.timescolo...ncil-1.15014749

Our very own Bernard is in the running, too, I believe!

Did you just out him?  He's definitely not officially announced.

Interesting how both of the currently announced candidates are explicit in their desire to "uphold the legacy of Vic Derman"

Rebecca and Vic were quite close.  I don't know anything about Nathalie.

All I know about Bernard is he loves the BC Libs and he needs to take a few more steps on his Fitbit because he seems to average like 5K a day which is not good.

Once the slate is done, all I want to know is who is the most prodevelopment.

I have not formally entered the race because I need to get a couple of things sorted out before I actually make my final decision.  I will be making the decision public in about mid July.    This of course all does not happen if I get the job in Bella Coola I have applied for.

One other candidate has formally announced and that is Shawn Newby

As to my fit bit stats, the last few weeks have been bad for getting out and walking, I need to get back to my 11,000+ steps a day

If I had to take a guess and rank them:

1) Bernard

2) Shawn

3) Rebecca

4) Nathalie

What say you, Bernard, are you in - or out?

Near Bella Coola there is "The Hill" which is a great way to get some exercise walking up to the summit and back.

I guess Bernard is out.

Newby is in.

"Hello, I'm Karen Harper and I am standing for Saanich Council in the upcoming bye-election."

Why should I vote for someone who can't even spell the thing that they're running in?

Either:

1) She knows so little about government that she can't spell "by-election"

2) She doesn't have someone spell-checking her website?

I know it's a minor typo but to me it represents a lack of professionalism

He's pro density. My concern is that everyone talks a good game about affordable housing need, but in the secrecy of the ballot box, do they really vote for more traffic on Shelbourne?

Saanich has a much lower percentage of renters than Victoria.

But his hold the line on taxes policy will appeal to many. That's a rare stance.
