^^ Mike Geric, not known for remarkable architecture. If he made those overhangs better, and the windows a little more exciting, he could pull off a Whistler condo look. I'm looking at the maps, but I don't see where the actual building is indicated.

Trendy Royal Oak, who knows. I ike how it shows all the banks, seniors are always at the freakin' bank for some reason. Trendy seniors know how to bank online.

Have we talked about this one? Construction has begun.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around the phrase "trendy Royal Oak" but admit the area is convenient (Commonwealth pool, lots of shopping and a nearby transit hub).

I love it when house builders think they can suddenly tackle multi unit condo buildings.

He has done MF before, including some on Tillicum, right across from Tillicum Mall, IIRC.

^Yeah, right here. They've already built the underground parking.

Cut off the bottom two floors and it would look really nice.

Any one care to speculate on the asking prices for the condos?

This was one of the ugliest buildings in Victoria. Run down. Vacant retail spaces. Bottle Depot. Now it's looking pretty spiff if you ask me.

Burnside building born again

Wayne Chew's aging structure repurposed as affordable housing

The building, 493 Burnside Rd. East, had been home to Chew's TV and Stereo Ltd. since 1975.

And until Chew suffered a stroke a few years ago it was also where he lived.

While Chew, 75, continues his recovery at home with family, his 30,000-square-foot building is coming back to life as an affordable-housing project.

^ It is? I was in the park behind it on the weekend and I can tell you it still looks pretty awful and little sign of work done. Is the front already changed from its previous look?

It's not a full-on makeover like Denby Place, but it's looking more or less like new, which considering how dreadful it was before is a vast improvement. It will look better than the slightly-revamped Riviera at Burnside and Harriet.

The outside won't change much.

I don't know where the thread is for this housing project in Rock Bay.

Here's a photo from a couple of weeks back.

So I drove by the Burnside place with the old bottle depot.

The outside looks exactly the same the only difference I could see was that there were some windows missing.

Anyone know what Hydro's doing on Burnside Rd. near Alpha/Dupplin?

Something pretty big, as they have built a structure on the road to accommodate!
