The who, what and where of vegetarian and vegan places to eat or where vegetarian and vegan dishes are served.

Apart from the standard places downtown (Rebar and Green Cuisine), what else is there, and which restaurants/eateries serve good vegetarian (or vegan) dishes?

Couple of places come to mind:

- The new cupcake place in Fernwood is vegan
- The Joint Pizza, on Wharf beside Pita Pit, serves vegan slices if you special order them

Know it all.

Just read this in Jack Knox's Sunday column:

A few years ago, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals rated Victoria the second most vegetarian-friendly city in Canada, just a bean sprout behind Vancouver

Mole on Pandora (between Government and Store) has raw-food meals on dinner menu (seventh heaven for foodies) and vegetarian options daytime. Food unbelievably good.

I consider myself a lacto-vegetarian, although I have cut down my dairy intake, as I only use butter and sometimes cheese. I drink rice milk, I eat eggs and occasionally eat fish. I have stopped eating Tofu (the processed kind) as I have heard its high in estrogens.

Ive been a vegetarian for 16 years.

There is of course Lotus Pond on Johnson, which is completely vegetarian. While I am not a vegetarian, I am married to one so I am always on the look out for restaurants with good veggie options.

The Ginger Fried 'B' at Lotus Pond is amazing!!

I was just about to post lotus pond as well. Great place! Dinners are standard prices but their lunch buffet is quite cheap and I recommend it! It's the usual chinese faire but all vegetarian and often more delicious.

When last I checked - before summer - Mole had closed for dinner. However, there is a place right next door - the name escapes me at the moment - that is a raw food juice bar with light lunches and amazing raw chocolate desserts.
100% vegan.
And here is a link to everything rawfood/vegan in B.C.

Only if it tries to eat you first.

Put some Venus fly traps* on top it gives it a big kick.

100% edible(some say they taste a bit meaty however)*
