Phillips Brewery buys former Sports Traders building, in what I think is a brilliant move. Hoping they create a proper tasting room and have the capacity to keep on growing.
Brewery founder Matt Phillips will be using the former Sports Traders space of about 16,000 square feet as the company’s wholesale distribution centre. Phillips’ current distribution hub is several blocks away.
...
Once the wholesale centre relocates, Phillips said the company will be able to do all of its wholesale operations from there and “basically bring all the team together in one location. “It just feels right, and feels better for everybody and makes for an easier operation.”

^I assume it still has its old industrial zoning. Let's hope it kickstarts a little development activity in that neighbourhood.

What's happening at VI Brewing? I went to fill my growler there last week for the first time ever, opened the door and it was a construction zone. So I hopped back on my bike and filled up at Driftwood instead.

^ I think they're rebranding and maybe refreshing their location, perhaps with a tasting room.
I'll wait until they improve their beers before I drop by. So far they've just put some new, but sub-par, branding on their old beers. Meh.

They got bought by by Bob MacDonald, who co-owns Ontario-Based craft brewery Muskoka, and also founded a large motor oil distribution company. The packagine is not great.

I ran into a nice glossy brochure the other day.
One event is at the harbour airport, one is at Centennial Square.
I really wish when one makes a calendar of events, they'd include the day of the week, in addition to the date. That's important to most people.

The majority of the beer week advertising seems to be on Facebook, the events have been up for quite some time now.

There's advertising in the local breweries but yeah print advertisement is going dodobird. more effective to buy FB posts.

That's odd. I haven't seen anything of their Facebook advertising, none. Zilch.
And I like beer.

Ya, and none of them are mass events really, except the ones at the Market.

Despite the lack of traditional advertising, every beer event i've stumbled across in Victoria during the last few years has been bursting at the seams.

Has anyone tried out the beers at Caledonian Brewery? And do they have bike racks there? If I want to try a few beers, it's out in burbs and would take longer to get there by bus.

The 31 will get you right to the doorstop. As for connecting to them via bike, take the Lochside to the Saanich cop-shop, deke down Douglas Street (yes! Douglas!), then once you get to McKenzie keep going down Douglas then take the pedestrian overpass to Pacific Christian where you'll connect with a path that will take you along the highway and to Vanalman. From there take a right onto Glanford and then onto Enterprise Crescent. Bam!
On the way back hold tight and watch for traffic.
My old office was in their building a few years back
