http://www.timescolo...toria-1.1320582Fran Hobbis, chairwoman of the Downtown Victoria Business Association, concurs, saying the Era is a sign of investor confidence. New services are offered as the downtown population grows, she said.
Projects like the Era are often a catalyst for other positive change, she said. “That’s the way we need to make changes — block by block. “This section of Yates is a little bit of a neglected block, I think. It needed a facelift and this [Era] will certainly contribute to that.”

I would say it was somewhat neglected with the bird wetland that existed prior to the Era's construction, but now with the Era up, the Churchill renovations and the ongoing renovations at the Dalton Hotel this block has gone from up and coming to nearly there.

The concrete sections on the front of the building have been painted. Things are starting to come together and it looks good!

Yep...neglected. But no longer! The alley will be the biggest improvement by far. It looks like it will be a nice space even!

The upper alley is going to be great.

True, the lower alley is doomed for some time to come. I just can't bear to wish the demise of the Odeon...But it is it's fault...

I won't deny that once completed Era will be a wonderful addition to downtown; I just can't help but think how stellar it could have been at just 5 floors taller!

Go 1000x Gary, I'd like to read the label on a paint can inside on the 9th floor.
