Up at Bear Mountain for the PGA last weekend. They've got a sales centre set up for some townhouses and on one of the screens had a shot of the Elevate building - the old unfinished tower.

Thanks, Diego. Is the height at 14-storeys?

It looks to me like 13 storeys.

Ok, thanks. I've reached out to the BM sales team a couple of times but have never heard back. I hope to be able to engage them this week and gather more info.

UPDATED: Ecoasis considers selling Bear Mountain

Strategic review could result in the sale of some or all assets

The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa could be on the market soon.

Owner Ecoasis Developments announced today that it has hired an advisor, JLL, to complete a strategic review of Bear Mountain that could result in a sale or business combination of some or all assets.

“We started discussing this strategic review a couple of months ago,” said David Clarke, Ecoasis’ chief financial officer. “Any review like this can have any number of different outcomes … What we’re focusing on right now is doing what’s best for the community.”

It seems no one quite knows how to get Bear Mountain roaring again.

Dan Matthews partner in BM is retiring and handing his business interests over to his 7 kids. Dan apparently would like someone to buy out the partners half so that he would only presumably have one person to work with or buy the whole enchilada and Ecoasis would get out of BM altogether.

I would say for the time being things are roaring again. We will see how long it lasts.

Is it though? Where is construction happening? Last time I was up there there seemed to be little construction activity.

Were you driving through with your eyes closed? There is building going on in five different areas and as soon as the new road is finished you can expect that to triple. I will agree in the center village area not much is happening but most of that is land not owned by Ecoasis.

A developer on BM recently called me to help him sell 9 lots; but he didn't end up needing any help whatsoever.  He listed them on his website and sold out in two days and had multiple bids on some of the lots.  It is pretty nuts up there right now.

No need to be so snarky. When I last went up there they were building a few townhouses and maybe 25-30 houses. That's not huge in my books. How many units are currently U/C?

There are a lot of areas you just don't see driving up to the village. For example, there are approx. 25 lots besides Len Barrie's old digs you would never notice unless you specifically drove there.

What's all this then?

https://www.biv.com/...sland-developm/

Matis has proposed a series of concave towers for the high point at Bear Mountain that could offer 450,000 square feet in what he bills as a “vertical micro-climate resort (VMR) concept.”

“Architecture is inspired by the striking West Coast setting; dramatic cantilever decks that stagger and terrace like evergreen tree branches atop a rippled pond,” the project description says.

^ I'm surprised there is actually a render. I give that project 2% odds of actually going forward.

Add that rendering to some of the stuff being proposed in Kelowna right now and it's smelling more and more like the top of the top.
