I don't understand the hate for Langford council and some of the trivial issues he keeps droning on about. I think that if Adam broadened the scope of people he was listening to he would find that in general Langford voters are willing to give the new council a chance. Sure nobody likes a 12% tax increase but even Stu told folks to expect 8%+ when he was Mayor and that was before the pool and other issues came to light.

Spanky123, I'm glad you brought this up. I couldn't find my property tax statement where it outlined the need for increased taxes.

Yes, all fair points.

With politics, things are often not what they seem. Allegiances can be made that would never be logical, but as we forget too often, the party doesn’t make the candidate.

The Greens gave this their all, knowing that if their showing would be weak, Furstenau will have a serious challenge in the next election. They had hoped that the green wave that got council elected would translate to something other than voter apathy in Langford, and voters electing the new slate would have done so with more behind it than just a desire for fresh sheets and not allegiance to green politics.

The Greens are going to pour everything they have into Sooke and Metchosin now. This will get very interesting.

^ He was hired as the editor of the Capital Daily newsletter a couple of weeks ago. From the June 23 newsletter:

We welcome a new team member aboard this week: Mark Brennae has joined as our newsletter editor, so if you see some random editing and seemingly non-sequitur references to the Montreal Expos, you'll know he's on the desk.

Mark has lived in Victoria for 11 years, following lifetimes in Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. He’s a big baseball fan and tries to relive his glory years on the softball diamond—tries, that is.

Any tips or comments—heck, even if you just want to talk baseball—you can touch base with Mark via mark@capitaldaily.ca.

Dunno if this is old news or a recent change, but after a graveyard I was heading home Saturday morning and tuned in to CFAX 1070 for the 0800 news and got a load of stuff about Vancouver bridge traffic - station identification was AM 730...thinking I'd punched the wrong button I tuned in 1070 again and it was still 730?

Ah, very good.

He is not listed on the team page (says Cameron Welch is the newsletter editor) so I did not know if he was a regular contributor.

There have been blackouts recently, like a signal problem. Maybe when that’s happening they divert to 730? I’ll see what I can find out.
