Yes, they closed for renovations, and removed BBQ from the name.

Anybody know the info on this spot: 407 Mermaid Lounge (suite 100 in the Mermaid Wharf Building adjacent to Canoe). Previous location of Saltaire Lounge, Queen Mother Cafe and an architect's office.
The unit was reno'd well over a year ago when the architect's office vacated, now it looks like a bar etc. again, but i've seen no activity in person or online. I was originally thinking that the strata may have taken over the unit as a common area, but can't confirm this...

I think we will see a resurgence; certainly the cuisine is not a fad and he had staying power in the American South (and other parts of the Sttes) since the 19th century.

i can't believe it's taken the "restoration" company sooooo long to rebuild Cafe Mexico. Is it almost 2 years and they are still framing?

They only just started the restoration a few weeks back. Its a total gut out and it includes the main floor and the Sweetwaters floor down below

Looks like the 13-storey Tillicum Centre tower that was approved for the northwest corner of the mall's parking lot won't be moving ahead any time soon.
Renovations planned for Montana's Cookhouse at Tillicum Centre
http://victoria.citi...illicum-centre/
Montana's Cookhouse at Saanich's Tillicum Centre will undergo a renovation and rebranding this spring, according to sources familiar with the plans.
The old west-themed barbecue restaurant will close for approximately one week while crews work on a kitchen modernization that will include exposure of the kitchen operation to restaurant patrons, an upgraded bar area, and an update to its new moniker, Montana's BBQ and Bar. Specific closing and re-opening dates have not been confirmed, however. [Full article]
