Their son's venture accepted credit and debit, I'm fairly certain. I'm surprised to see both suddenly closed.

Know it all.

I just went to 7/11 to buy tic tacs. They tried to up-sell me to 16 pieces of chicken. Slightly off topic but I really felt the need to share.

Fit Fix Cafe has opened on Douglas Street in the former McGreen's space between Yates and Johnson streets.

It's a "fitness food" cafe.  You know, get your "fit fix".  My wife tried it the other day and just loves it.  It's owned by a Polish couple that look to be "fit chefs".  They had a bunch of pre-made dishes and she picked up the Teriyaki Chicken, Broccoli, and Sweet Potato combo for $10.50.  So there you go.

Han Korean Restaurant is setting up shop in the location where Skinnytato used to be on Johnson between Douglas and Government. Don't know any details otherwise...

Just walked past Broad and noticed Bagels on Broad has closed down and is being replaced with a cafe called Rise and Grind Coffee & Eats Inc.

La Roux Patisserie is preparing to open in the 500-block Fisgard Street.

For those interested, right around the corner from The Janion, La Roux on lower Fisgard Street is done!  Permit is signed off today and they are opening on Sunday.  Go check them out and report back here.

Anybody know the info on this spot: 407 Mermaid Lounge (suite 100 in the Mermaid Wharf Building adjacent to Canoe).  Previous location of Saltaire Lounge, Queen Mother Cafe and an architect's office.

The unit was reno'd well over a year ago when the architect's office vacated, now it looks like a bar etc. again, but i've seen no activity in person or online.  I was originally thinking that the strata may have taken over the unit as a common area, but can't confirm this...

OK i know this place is for sale now, apparently, but in the meantime they have the space up for rentals with a couple of signs on the windows and a bunch of plantings on the patio that says "we're open for business". I've never seen anyone in there, but it would be a really nice spot this summer for 20-30 people.

^ A couple restaurateurs that I know are looking for a second or third location looked at the space, but fund it a difficult layout.

Well, Canoe has all that and by all means looks successful.  But they have a nicer patio.

Yes, but Canoe also have the parking both in front and they have that agreement with Chintz for late night parking.

They are named after race horses and I don't think "sprinkles" was a jockey.

Just as long as the hot dogs aren't named after horses.
