There is nothing about that comment that is racist.. It was a simple question as to how will a station male money and who will work in it of there is no income attached to it.

 

FFS the other comment about Alberta is far more blatant than mine but you don't bring that up? Why not?

The thinking would be to partner with them on a nearby development, kind of like in some jurisdictions where a casino is built and FN members are involved in its running. Not suggesting a casino, but the Esquimalt First Nation has hinted in the past about future developments on their land.

The point of the station is not to make money, but a portion of the ticket sales would be a possibility. Also as I have suggested in the past. Several FN groups do build developments on their land and rent out for commerical spaces or residential  and in some cases RV parks (ie Island View Park). The station itself would simply act as the focal point of any new development on the Esquimalt FN land which in turn would be the primary source of income..

 

You could incorporate a commercial aspect into the station.

It's helmcken Rd at Pheasent Lane, near view Royal elementary. On the Victoria Commuter Train page they were looking at stations at either Helmcken Rd or at 6 Mile Rd. So I am doing a rendering to show what that would look like.

Capital region mayors remain optimistic about the prospects for commuter-rail service on the E&N Rail corridor from Langford to Vic West, despite a pending change in the provincial government.

Langford Mayor Stewart Young said he expects the project to receive strong consideration, whether the existing Liberal government survives or falls to a new NDP-Green alliance.

“I know the NDP support the E&N,” he said. “Pretty well every government has.”

Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins, who ran unsuccessfully for the Liberals in Esquimalt-Metchosin, said the E&N commuter-rail project will be in good hands no matter who forms the government. “The NDP, having been here for a long period of time and representing us, know that this is a significant issue,” she said.

“It would be a low-hanging fruit, early win for them.”

The renewal of rail service has the strong support of more than 84 per cent of Greater Victoria residents according to a new survey from the Island Corridor Foundation.

 

Less than 5 per cent of the region’s 82 respondents said they were either ‘not supportive’ or ‘somewhat unsupportive’ of restoring service. Overall, 62 per cent of the survey’s 429 respondents were ‘very supportive’ of rail service, while nearly 18 per cent were ‘not supportive at all.’

It's physically impossible for the train to solve the Colwood Crawl, or the Malahat Line-up, or whatever you have.  It simply can  not be done.

 

 

To me, the feedback data can easily be flawed:
