It was most fortuitous for you to catch our brief interlude of sunshine today for your photos, Marko.

You'll need to RSVP at http://hudsonplaceone.ca/

Is that in addition to (concurrent with) the offer to waive GST?

Also, do we know what the current percentage of units sold is here ...?

We know it's at least 60%. My guess is they're approaching 70%.

I'll try to confirm the GST.

Traffic along Herald between Blanshard and the Carriageway will be closed (or maybe rerouted?) between Jan 30-Feb 1 as the crane will be coming down.

So the crane isn't staying in place for use on HP2?

I was in the Hudson Place Market around 5:30 pm.  Wafflebeast was closed; they had a sign printed saying "closed due to personal health issues."  I wanted to try the taco place, but they were sold out of chicken and wouldn't be preparing any additional meat due to impending closing.  I then went to the pasta place, and the guy was happy to prepare a bowl of pasta (it was tasty) but requested that I not dine in the restaurant itself as they were preparing to close.  When I asked about closing time, he responded that the entire market closes at 6 pm, which (I think) is earlier than it used to be as I believe it once was open to 7 pm.

In any case, I hope that the market reconsiders its opening hours and extends them until at least 8 pm most evening.  It will soon gain hundreds of new residential neighbours, and I imagine that this venue would be a very convenient dinner choice for them...

You can't finish a building with a crane tethered to it.

True, but it seems odd that the crane wasn't positioned on the site to be able to stay put for the construction of the next tower.

It's just not worth staying open past 6PM. Chances are it's also quiet by 5PM, but that would be unreasonable for a market. Once HP1 opens they'll re-assess, I'm sure, but even with Hudson Walk 1 and 2 (with nearly 300-units among them) the market still struggled with relatively low traffic in the off-hours.

I used to love hopping down and picking up meat at the butcher, baked goods at the bakery, some veggies at the grocer and the odd take-out item. It was super cool and convenient. When the baker closed that was a real shame.

That's not how it works. You can't have a 100m tall crane slinking around, it needs to be tethered.

Of course there doesn't seem to be any rush to start HP2, so perhaps the crane can be put to better use elsewhere.

I wonder if a new bakery will come to the market...?

Yes, the bakery has closed, as has the olive oil establishment.

The vegan butcher is still there ...
