Any idea on size comparison? Hopefully bigger than Quadra location and closer to Uptown size.

The Eagle Creek store will be almost 3.5 times bigger than Quadra and larger than Uptown. 6800 sq ft. in total.

the quadra site is restricted in size because of Victorias arcane liquor retail laws which favour pot dispensaries over liquor stores. go forth and multiply local retailers your profits lie outside these city gates.

Recently going into a Cascadia, I loved the selection of local spirits. With gin: Ampersand, Stump, Sherigham etc.

Personally, I really appreciated seeing that.

At those prices I would expect the selection to be superlative.

I haven't seen a bottle yet. Have looked a half a dozen stores or so.

Quadra-Villages-Cascadia-Liquor-Store-sets-eyes-on-larger-digs.jpg

An artist's rendering of a Cascadia Liquor Store proposed for 2670 Fifth Street at the Quadra Village Shopping Centre. Liquor store operator The Truffles Group of Companies says its existing retail space, situated in the same complex, is too small and presents "logistical challenges."

Part of Cascadia's old agreement was a yearly meeting with the neighbourhood to discuss any problems caused by the store. I wonder if they are still having those meetings or if they fizzled out because that outlet is relatively trouble-free.

Anyway, this confirms for me you shouldn't put too much faith in these "permanent" agreements dictated by City Hall. They all seem to have a ten year life expectancy before they either become irrelevant or everyone forgets about them.

Right, that is still part of their "good neighbour" mandate. They meet once a year or more, if required by the CA.

Well, I suppose the onus is on the neighbourhood association to request each year, no?  No request and no meeting would make sense.

Well I am glad that we wouldn't keep things the way they are just because there is some silly agreement from many years ago. We are in a different place and this should breeze through.

I was at the meeting for the original approval. In fact I spoke in support. None of the feats been realized. And why would you not want a store there with more selection.

The Cascadia store was unusually close to the government's store (as the crow flies; it seems farther away). The fear was that the Hillside/Fifth Street area which already had a bit of a bad reputation would become a booze alley, in the same way 900 Pandora is drug alley. I agree those fears were unfounded
