A blow out in a steering axle tire would cause it to veer off
Ask any trucker its their worst fear

At 50kmh or less, on a small, fairly light passenger vehicle?  I think most competent drivers could compensate for that while they slow the car down.

Anyway you look at it is pretty broad statement

How about if we look at it this way...
There was a mechanical breakdown wgich caused the accident

Do you think there should be charves then

I doubt there was a mechanical breakdown on a pretty new looking car which resulted in it dramatically veering off course, hitting a tree, trash can and human being all while flipping over going ~50km/h on a quiet residential street.

You're right, it is possible though.

The driver was released from hospital. We can probably rule out impairment since the police haven't indicated anything like that.

Sorry, can't charge a hornet with which last manslaughter! Medical event is very plausible though.

Maybe she had a medical event
Or a hornet flew into her car and landed on her crotch causing her to freak out and lose control

At least one of those two doesn't excuse her from crashing and killing someone.

Maybe.

I think if you went and looked at all of the traffic accidents in BC over the past decade you would find that 99% of them were operator error with a small amount being the result of mechanical issues.

I dont think she planned on killing someone

That doesn't matter.  You still need to be accountable for your actions.  If your actions resulted in running over the woman - when you could have chosen a safer course of action - you are guilty.

Neither did Emma Czornobaj or Craig MacTavish.

The Criminal Code of Canada covers driving offenses resulting in death.

A vehicle directed at a human being is considered a deadly weapon. Point that sucker at a cop while it's in motion and see where that gets you.

Let's face it, Canada's driving regulations allow a bloody moron to get behind the wheel and buzz around. Canada's Worst Driver may have been a funny show but it highlighted just how grossly incompetent and ridiculously bad Canada's drivers are. It's no wonder so many people freak the **** out when they rent a car in Europe -- it's the first time they're driving among individuals who universally know what the heck a clutch is and now to drive defensively.

I wouldn't hesitate to say that 50% of the drivers on our roads shouldn't be driving a vehicle at all, but unfortunately the automotive industry has our governments and policy makers by the you-know-what and they're not about to give up on vehicle sales, even if they cringe like a septic tank cleaner during a test drive.

I'm not sure that's true.  Centrifugal force keeps the wheel straight as long as it's turning.

Having once been in a moving car that lost a tie rod, I can assure you that it doesn't.

^Yeah, I lost a tie rod doing high speed donuts in Hillside Mall's parking lot after a good snowstorm. Going in a straight line was not something it was capable of after that.

How far did you have to follow that truck before you got the money shot?

He was stopped on the side of the Pat Bay between Elk Lake Drive and Royal Oak.  I assume he stopped to pick something up.  He was just merging back in as I got up to him.
