Sounds like it was a four car crash with a big mess created by oil and gas.

The Malahat is now fully reopened after a four-car crash shut down the highway the highway for more than an hour during the morning commute. West Shore RCMP, Langford Fire and B.C. Ambulance responded to the scene around 8:15 a.m. after four cars crashed and a one-kilometre long oil-and-gas slick covered the road. - See more at: http://www.timescolo...h.5vs4tvIG.dpuf

^ I think he is referring to the hydro pole that looks like it missed the sidewalk and is located in the roadway.
I looked at Google Maps and the poles are on the roadway all along that stretch of 5th Street. Strange!

Gotta have the sidewalk wide enough for two scooters to pass each other! :-P

Right...keep those pesky poles out of the way of "scooter gridlock"

Heard about an accident on Chatham, west of Douglas that had southbound traffic down to one lane. The incident involved at least two cars - one maroon sedan that wasn't in bad condition and one grey suv that was on it's roof. Right in front of Paul's motor inn. Hopefully everyone is okay.

Everyone is fine. I inverted this so you might be able to make out the car make.
