Quite the scene on Cook at Fort streets where a giant branch has come down onto a delivery truck.
Luckily nobody was injured.

Folks at the scene remarked that a fire truck rolled past back to the station and didn't stop at the scene. Police did not arrive for quite a while following the incident. And city crews were taking photos of the event rather than helping to direct traffic.
What's going on down there? That whole tree should be cordoned off until the rest of it can be assessed and declared safe.

That's a chestnut tree so the rest of Cook Street needs to be cordoned off as well.
So VHF should beware when out and about around chestnut trees.

Did it fall with the assistance of the delivery truck or did the tree do it to itself?
That's a good question.

^ So was the tree thinking it could score some ice cream by attacking the truck? Lisa Helps needs to label that as "desperate" in a press release, to quell the mobs calling for a lynching.

It's perfectly natural for a tree to intentionally squash a prey under its canopy and ultimately provide itself with fertilizer, nothing we haven't done to them.

How exactly does one lynch a tree? Hang it from a bigger tree?

Come to think of it my Venus Flytrap does that on a smaller scale. Say, I've not seen three of my pet fruit flies around this week.

True. Some guy got killed by a tree in Elk Lake Park a few years back. No word on what that tree was thinking.
EDIT: maybe he was just paralyzed.

If a tree falls in the forest and you make the statement if nobody is around to hear it does it make a sound you are extremely arrogant.
