I am sure that the harbor master has radar that tracks and logs the speed of every vessel automatically.
Slow vessels also impede traffic when they are not signalling their intentions to other vessels.

So, are there going to be speed cops down there with a speed gun? Can speed guns even tell the difference between 3.5 and 4.5 knots?
Maybe they'll put up a big digital sign with a smiley face on it?

New Path Lighting...
The were installing some fancy new path lighting on the Galloping Goose trail today. These appear to be LED reflector lights. The lamp shines straight up at the reflector that diffuses the light down towards the path. Note that these are NOT solar panels.

If this Lisa Helps is still mayor when this is finished, I think the new name will be the Reconciliation Bridge.

She had and has nothing to do
with the bridge. No credit is due
Just a slight adjustment needed.

The Stairway to Nowhere...
At least nowhere "we" can go (HB excepted). For now, the stairs will provide access to the new bridge's emergency generator located just behind that chain link wall under the east abutment. Of course we all know what's supposed to be at the bottom of those stairs - some day. I believe those white foam pieces are being used to form the backfill for the stair forms, just like they provided backfill for the entire east approach just to the south.

She had nothing to do with the bridge ... until it is complete. Then she will have had everything to do with it ... until there is a problem.

I'm not sure where the styrofoam discussion went (between Janion and JSB) but i'll post it here as it seems more appropriate.
These recent photos are where the giant styrofoam go, between the JSB and the Janion. Way down (look way down), irrigation/water/etc. pipes, are buried in sand and then pounded down.
Then goes on the styrofoam blocks. They cut 'em with big, giant, huge, noisy saws, and throw away the waste.
On top goes a waterproof barrier. I hope someone is keeping track of all this (in case a pipe breaks).
Mid to Lower bottom left of the photo are stacks of our paving stones. The Plaza can't be more than 6 months away!!

And while they are pounding everything down...way down...I hope they are also keeping track of the TELUS cable way down there.

All of the crossing arms are now installed on the pedestrian and car approaches on both ends the of bridge.
Red and white highly visible with lights . Looks good
Get some picture Gary.

That Telus cable was the very first thing they did . they lifted it and placed it in huge black plastic interlocking boxes then laid it back down under the water. Shore-side it was buried in concrete conduits

The new Boom Gates...
I was waiting to post this with a balcony shot but I haven't got around to it. Agreed, they look much better than the old yellow ones. I like the whole silver and gray steel and concrete look to the project overall. But when oh when are they going to put in the pedestrian guardrails?

Nice to see Gordie Mann was involved. Those are some serious PVC pipes. Is that fibre? When were the photos taken, simply out of curiousity?
