Nice to see Gordie Mann was involved. Those are some serious PVC pipes. Is that fibre? When were the photos taken, simply out of curiousity?

The new Boom Gates...
I was waiting to post this with a balcony shot but I haven't got around to it. Agreed, they look much better than the old yellow ones. I like the whole silver and gray steel and concrete look to the project overall. But when oh when are they going to put in the pedestrian guardrails?
More Boom Gate shots...
Both east and west sides. Even the MUD is getting a proper set of gates. The final shot show both the old and new gates in the same frame.

Is anything planned for the void spaces between the stairs and the Janion building? Gardens? Water feature? Public BBQ pits?

The red line in the photo below shows the property line. Left of the red line, Janion, to the right, City.
The wall in the lower left is a wall that opens onto marble tiled Limited Common Property of the Janion. There are a couple of corners of those void spaces (between the Janion and Stairway retaining wall) that are on the Janion side. Except for a small sliver (left side of photo below window) the void spots are on city property. There are no plans on behalf of the Janion that i'm aware of to fill any of the voids. Care to volunteer?.

Hopefully, for the sake of the residents of the Janion and the public who will one day use these stairs, some sort of landscaping or decorative scheme can be worked out; otherwise, I foresee this space becoming nothing more than a place for garbage and used syringes to collect.

The developer of the Janion must have to take some responsibility for at least filling up the empty pits (now full of construction garbage) on the gaps between the retaining wall (which i believe is common property) and the COV stairway. Time will tell... The building was allowed early occupancy to get owners in, but it appears there is still alot to be done. How many other modern urban developments still have a gravel path to their front door, this after almost 10 weeks.

UNDER the Johnson Street Bridge. This is the current David Foster Walkway as of March 1, 2017...
Even if this eventually does get developed (as per the sales pitch for the new JSB way back when), there doesn't appear to be much headroom, so it's always going to be a bit claustrophobic.

Enough room to pitch a tent though!

Just looking at that picture makes me smell urine. Hopefully they keep it nice and bright and maintained.
