These "three month" delays appear to be little more than an appeasement tactic, no?

As we've seen with a plethora of Hollywood films, if someone's chasing you down for money, and you don't have it, do you tell them the truth or do you promise to deliver in quick order?

Like the flight that is delayed '15 minutes' when the plane isn't even at the gate yet!

I also expect that much of the "green space" promised with the bridge will instead be sold off for development in an attempt to recover some of the costs of the bridge.

As it should be. There is no shortage of green spaces and empty plazas in the CoV.

^ Agree. I would much rather see some increased density on either side of the bridge. We already have a massive unused plaza in front of OPR and a park on the other side with a burgeoning tent city. The Janion will have a square in front of it too. Why do we need more open space in this area? There should be no question that it should be sold.

According to the results there are actually 6522 people who are not at fault as they voted against the borrowing referendum. Perhaps a class action is in order.

As one of those who voted against it, where do I sign?

What else can we do now but hope? Everybody hopes that it will work out. I hope this entire exhausting saga concludes with an unexpected anticlimax.

The bridge eventually opens, it works, and it doesn't require major work for many years.

At VV's AGM in 2025 we'll all look back at the years of grief and share a good laugh. I hope.

Hope involves a lack of acceptance, but here we are being discontented with the present due to insufficient information.

Did I miss this years AGM?

I voted to keep the HST. Where do I sign for my class action?

Well whatever happens, my wife is expecting our first child on December 31 2017, which I believe is before the bridge opens in 2118. (eyes rolling)

Perhaps your great-great-great-great grandchildren can attend the ribbon cutting on the new bridge.

That colour is growing on me.

It's better than the hideous shade(s) of blue the existing JSB has been painted since 1976.

I thought they were planning to paint it a light blue? I must have imagined that?

From the back and below it actually looks quite striking. Not slick and space-age, but like a really heavy & industrial brute of a thing. I've obviously missed many meetings because I wasn't aware that the STNG* contouring and shaping had been eliminated to such a degree.

Question: what's to prevent people from scaling the superstructure? It practically begs for it, the angle is so gentle and it conveniently comes right down to ground level.

So... have there been any big cutbacks re: the nighttime illumination that I also wasn't aware of?

It seems like it would make a pretty rad skateboard ramp as well.

Yup! a nice skateboard ramp, or a buzz bomb rocket launcher, but that would soon end one they run up the barb wire.
