According to the schedule, they are painting the "balance plates" on the bridge's counter-weight.

Hey Gary, what's your best bet for the "big lift" date (month)?  The date they try to remove the whole thing from the barge and place it into the waiting holding mechanisms?

Our paint job is superior to theirs.

The smart money would have been to have done ALL the work locally.

Maxwell said workers at United Engineering, another Ralmax company, are carrying out the fine-machining on the steel delivered from China for the new Johnson Street Bridge, getting it ready to install.

Their efforts are “world-class and as fine a work as could be done anywhere — and it’s being done in Victoria,” he said.

There's a new 1/4ly update for next weeks COTW.  No new delays.  Rings and counterweight installed by end of Nov, Bascule installed in January, and Feb-Mar is for testing.  Still on track for March 31.  No firm details on the planned budget increases for fendering or public realm.

Also I did not notice any details on ped/cycling connections to the Goose from the E&N.  The 0.2 mile bridge needed work and I haven't seen proof anything has happened.  I wonder if the City will drop the ball on it and thus the Goose and JSB could open but the E&N connection will remain fenced off.

Think all that is bound up in the public realm stuff

Well, bascule was supposed to be December.  But I did not expect the lift to happen at Christmas.

^ If you look at the project plan at the end off the document there are a lot of items that are behind schedule.

A few more photos of the new bridge being assembled taken during the Point Hope Shipyard Open House today.

Harbour Ferries gave visitors a closer look at things from the water.
