I hadn't been to The Reef in a couple of years and recently went back for dinner.

I had the Moca burger with plaintain chips and was very impressed.

The burger had an incredible assortment of ingredients that worked well together and the unique bun added a nice touch. The plantain chips were so good that if I had any room left I would have ordered an additional side.

I highly recommend this place (especially the burger) and as some of you know I think that many restaurants in Victora fail to live up to expectations.

Kudos from me as well. Was there a few weeks ago for a late breakfast and it was superb :)

I'm not sure I agree with that assessment - I went there once to see what all the fuss was about and found the breakfast (which, if I'm not mistaken, is supposed to be their specialty) to be distinctly average.

Too much breading, too much spice and not enough flavour.

I have never heard of breakfast being a specialty at The Reef. It has always had a dinner vibe and I would have never thought to go there for breakfast.

What did you have? How long ago was your visit?

Can't find where the topic was recently discussed, but I believe Mike had suggested that the Reef was closing soon. Not sure where that info came from because I went there on the weekend to get one last jerk roti, and spoke with staff who informed me they have no intention of closing and are booking holiday parties.

Either the info is bunk or the owner was keeping it secret. I guess time will tell. In the meantime, the food remains excellent.

The closure is not until the new year, from what we know.

One good thing about the Reef closing I won't have to giggle every time I think of jerk chicken.

What did she say when you asked her?

Matt.
