Since seal feeding was banned at Fisherman's Wharf, the number of seagulls here has drastically declined. I only have to clean off the poop once a week instead of every day.

thanks captain obvious...a person's ethnicity social status or sexuality orientation or religion should not be required to describe an event that they are involved inEthnic is a descriptor. It's used to narrow down the field. Just like "guy" rather than person in this case.

Actually it's a pretty lousy descriptor, given that we are ALL ethnic, i.e., have some genealogical ethnicity. It only narrows the field down if you read between the lines and take it to mean, "not white" or "not one of us."

Back in the old days ethnic meant anyone not from the UK. French, Italian, German, Greek all ethnic in the old days.
Now ethnic means anyone not white.
With immigration trends, give it 50 to 100 years and that ethnic person will be the guy from the UK

displaying characteristics, as in physicalappearance, language, or accent, that can cause one to be identifiedby others as a member of a minority ethnic group:
Her new boyfriend looks ethnic to me.
I think it fits. How do we know it's a guy? Even if we saw his genitals, does not mean he identifies as one of the other.

Have to comment as I haven't been back to Victoria in quite some time (and I don't recall it ever being this bad when I lived there).
The amount of bird poo on the streets and buildings downtown is unbelievable — beyond anything I've ever seen. It's literally on everything. Not putting the best face forward for visitors.
It actually made me feel like I could be crapped on at any moment.
Surely there is some line item on the city budget for this... if I lived in Victoria and paid taxes I'd be embarrassed. What gives?

Feed the seagulls to the homeless.

Published on:Monday, March 19, 2018It turns out that the Sky Dancers that were previously working to deter seagulls at Ogden Point have lost effectiveness. It’s a new chapter for Western Stevedoring staff, who manage operations at Ogden Point, as they continue to search for solutions to keep the pier seagull (and seagull excrement) free.
