Looks like some changes to the Uptown Exchange. The #16 and 30/31 are now stopping here as of January 2, 2016...

I don't get out enough; I didn't even realize there was a bus route #16. Overall it's a nice looking transit "exchange".

I see you invited VHF to be a guest photographer for that last shot.  :P

The route 16 is a express service linking Uptown with Uvic via the Pat Bay Hwy and Mckenzie Ave. It runs about every 10-15 M-F.

People are raising a serious stink on VV's Facebook page in regards to BCT's NYE schedule. While other cities are extending services to ensure people have a way of getting around their respective regions, BCT is falling back on its regular Saturday schedule. This means for a large subset of the population relying on transit means they'll have to leave wherever they may be prior to midnight.

Is this any different than BCT has done in past New Year's Eves?

I'm not sure. But folks are asking for a little more pragmatism on a night where tens of thousands will be celebrating with no way to get home save for walking or depending on a DD.

I agree. It just seems to me that this is SOP for BCT.

Head over to Craigslist and see if you can still round up a private driver. If you've got a larger group it won't be too expensive.

We even have snow in the forecast, which means things could get hairy come midnight.

A private driver? Should be a few of those who are heading home from the pub and could use some cash.

Those services will be as busy as cans. On NYE you're literally SOOL unless you literally luck out and catch a cab that's just dropped off a fare and is heading in your general direction.

Call Mom!

Or..." Dad can you come and pick me up,there are 100 people here and their kicking holes in the walls"

Who's house is it?

Don't know, and I don't know anyone here.

I'll be there in ten minutes wait across the street.

Anyone know what has happened to the #76 bus? (Swartz-Uvic express.)

When I plan a trip on the trip planner, it shows up, but when I enter the bus number in the schedule, it comes up that the route doesn't exist?

Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

It doesn't operate every day. You'll need to correlate your effective date with the dates it actually runs (I think Fridays only?).

I thought it does not run when UVic is not in session (?).

VICTORIA – The annual seasonal service change in Victoria will come into effect on December 5, 2016. Regular service will resume on January 2, 2017.

Transit ridership is lower during the holidays, and lower service levels during December allow BC Transit to run higher service levels in the fall and winter.

The seasonal changes are being made on routes around universities and colleges as they prepare for their breaks. Additional buses will be put on the road if necessary to support students.

That is correct, the 76 only runs when UVic is in session.

Oh, yah, got that^..but my trip plan is for Jan 8th.  I guess the planner can show it, but because they're not in session yet, the route doesn't show in the list..

Noticed this on the View Royal Casino website.  Another choice for park and ride on the westshore.

http://www.viewroyal...no.com/shuttle/

The Westshore Express shuttle is being discontinued Saturday December 17, 2016!

View Royal Casino is pleased to offer our Free Park & Ride service in Parkade Levels 5 & 6 providing you with an EASY Connection to the BC Transit stop located right in front of the Casino.
