...But there are many variables that must be factored in when placement of stops is finalized - including demographics of a region (or neighbourhood/corridor).

I have always assumed that the relatively short distance between stops (at least in the downtown) was directly related to the high number of seniors in the area who probably can't walk as far.

I'm in Steveston where this great 1964 GMC fishbowl is on display:

That bus is owned by "TRAMS" or "Transit Museum Society of Vancouver". It's an old GM Fishbowl.

I think that's mostly a misconception. Very few stops are actually ~200m apart along the 14's route:

Bay @ Douglas to next Rock Bay/Govt: 200m

Rock Bay/Govt to Turner: 500m

Turner to Tyee: 450m

Tyee to Catherine: 350m

Catherine to Pine: 350m

Pine to Coventry: 300m

Coventry to Carrie: 350m

Carrie to Arcadia: 190m

Arcadia to Lampson: 220m

People seem to realize that buses will get later and later if people keep boarding the bus. I miss the days when the 70x used to only stop at specific stops Downtown. Same for the 61x. BCT is basically trying to eliminate anything express-based. I believe only the 61x, 27/28x, and 32x are the only express routes left. Even the 76x is being canned.

The 15X seemed to lose the X at some point, but it definitely does not stop at the odd stops others do.

I blame Horgan and Weaver.

^You'd have to. Douglas and Tolmie have been dead for over 130 years.

I blame Horgan and Weaver.

Technically, Christy Clark is still premier, so she needs to accept the blame.

I'd rather go with Todd Stone for thinking 7 lane roads in an urban environment are a good idea.

What's happening with the transit yard on Douglas? One of the buildings is partly demolished.

BC Transit ditched the "X" on the end of most of their routes because it confused people. They just say the 15 and 16 are "Limited Stops". 27/28 still run express during peak times, as well as the 61. Just to be clear; the 15 services every stop from Dockyard to Downtown; but after that towards UVIC, it's limited stops. Would make more sense to have a seperate route to UVIC with limited stops.

Stay tuned - two brand new buses will be on the Route 3 starting June 26th! 2017 Grande West Vicinity 30-foot. Basically a chinese-built, but Canadian marketed bus out of Aldergrove, BC.

The old 15x was UVic - Downtown only, until BCT moved the Esquimalt leg from the 6.

Yeah that has never made much sense. Most of the eastbound passengers get off this route on Fort at Douglas and the westbound ones on Yates at Douglas.

^ That's right.  I think if you list your address as Esquimalt you are not even eligible to go to UVic.  Camosun maybe, as long as it's "trades".

j/k, but ya it seems odd.

So hold on Talldude, the 27 and 28 still have X's though, right?  It's just that the 15 was always an x and that was not worth it for the confusion.

I've never quite understood the reverse routing of 28/27x too, on the GH loop.  Been there since I was a kid, but I'm not sure the advantage, just makes for lots of bus stops to maintain on the reverse routing for one or three buses a day, hardly worth building shelters for etc.
