The photo above reminds me, did someone mention that Jawl Properties also owns Rotherham Place and that we might see a makeover on the plaza between the 2 buildings?

A makeover of the building itself would be great.

Something like:

Funny you should say that. I walked past RP yesterday and wondered what sort of recladding might work to bring this bland 1980s structure into the 21st century.

I believe RP is owned by someone in Europe.  Apparently they have owned it for many years.  Not to say it hasn't changed hands recently, but not that I have heard.

^That is what I have heard too. I would rather see it come down than a reclad myself.

I've heard the same as Kach, likely from the same source.

My preference would be for the building to be taken down and something remotely close to modern standards be put there in its place. Let's fix: no interior stairs from upper floors to the first floor, only a men's shower room, an asinine upper and lower courtyard design, more stairs than remotely necessary, interior finishing not updated for 20 years,...

It does house some quite difficult to move records, so it may stay longer than we all would like.

I think it will be a l-o-n-g while before a building of this vintage is replaced in Victoria. There's so many other prime downtown sites desperate for redevelopment (I'm looking at you north side 700 block Fort Street). I can't see RP being on the hit list for decades. Something to cover the ugly in the meantime would be nice.

Three storey office on that has likely increased tenfold since building is ripe for development. There was a four storey where the atrium is now.

Used to work in that building on the lower floor. Kind of an odd layout, to get from the main floor to the lower have to go down and across the parkade. The building itself is a bit odd looking and doesn't seem an efficient use of the space now.

For sure, and actually this might be a great site for a true office tower. A better site than Gateway Green's lot. But a redesign and the addition of a couple of floors could work wonders all the same.
