It's a tight race in Saanich. Only 200 votes separate Leonard and Cubberly.

Yeah, wow. Exciting race.

Looks like Wade is edging out Wickson for the empty seat in Saanich. I guess a low key campaign can still succeed if you're on the same slate as Leonard.

7 out of 14 Victoria polls reporting now. Looks like Isitt, Helps, and Gudgeon are in the top 8 councillors.

Unreal. I obviously don't "get" Victoria.

Well we might be in for a small overall improvement, a full cleaning of house was way too much to ask for. Was really hoping to get rid of Dean though, but the machine behind him is far too powerful.

I see Luton and Lucas are behind right now in the Victoria polls, don't recall who the other incumbent was.

In 2008, there were almost 3,000 votes between number eight John Luton and number nine (me). I don't see this happening today. This might run on into the late night. Three incumbents tossed is beyond what I imagined.

Losing moderate lefty Luton or Hunter for Isitt would really skew Council away from centre, especially if Lucas retains his seat.

I thought Brown would do much better.

When you've got unions throwing tens of thousands at your campaign, it's no wonder.

Wow, looks like Hunter isn't even in the top 10. I should point out again that only 7 polls are reporting and Victoria's neighbourhoods are vastly different, so who knows the outcome yet.

Time to stop bringing in the union aspect to it... They may have helped fund campaigns but they don't do much to get out the vote. Honestly, they don't.. It's not the 1980's anymore.

No surprises in Langford - preliminary results are already out and show Stew Young and the incumbent council all returned to City Hall with healthy margins.

The big story is 18-year-old Grant McLachlan did actually quite well, earning over 1,200 votes. That put him only 400 votes behind Roger Wade, who took the last council seat. Not too shabby for a first-time candidate and the only legitimate non-incumbent council candidate. He should be proud. :)

Exactly.

I'm embarrassed as a union member.

Looks like Nils Jensen is the new mayor of Oak Bay.
