Carl, we've heard a rumour that Costco is coming to Keating X. Any truth to this?
Better yet, Carl, do everything in your power to make this happen. Please?

In the years I worked at Keating I heard the Costco rumour so many times. It will be interesting if it happens, but the same issue keeps coming up. The Keating on ramp from the highway. Thats always the stumbling block and will need resolved as part of any decision to do with Costco.

Good. Have Costco pay to put a flyover in.

Death in the fast lane. That turn is nasty.

you mean have Costco pass along the cost of the flyover to all its customers?

Did it 2-3 times a day for 25+ years, never figured out why it was never a flyover from the far right lane which would have been a pretty simple fix for Northbound traffic

Thanks for the comments, I see a few familiar names from my past experiences on this forum! Now let's get into the question of the day! No, I have not heard any "recent" rumours about Costco coming to Keating, honestly it has been some time since I have heard reference to that. Nothing has come across any Council agenda's either in terms of an official application of any sort.
On to the Keating overpass, it remains a priority in terms of Council and following up with MOTI annually at UBCM during our Minister meetings. My understanding is that this process has been ongoing for a number of years dating back before I joined council in 2011. However what I would say is different about our approach, is that we have recently undergone a project looking at helping to produce a business case for the future of Keating, to help us with strategic planning for the area looking at what we are doing and what is possible.
Here is a link to the implementation plan on the District site:
https://www.centrals..._plan_final.pdf
You will see that P1 on page 10 speaks to next steps towards Highway 17 access via an interchange.

Tri-municipal Council meeting this evening with our neighbours to the North, Sidney and North Saanich to discuss Affordable Housing on the Saanich Peninsula. Drop by the new firehall on Keating in Central Saanich if you are in the neighbourhood perhaps at one of our great local businesses such as Sassy's or Peninsula Pizza!

While you're at it, can the three of you amalgamate?

While you're at it, can the three of you amalgamate?
What happened with the result of the referendum?
SIDNEY — “Are you in favour of a provincially funded study to investigate the feasibility, costs and implications of amalgamating the three municipalities of the Saanich Peninsula?” YES – 2,566; NO – 1,232; eligible voters – 9,100.
NORTH SAANICH — “Are you in favour of a study, provincially funded, to investigate the feasibility, costs and implications of amalgamating the three municipalities on the Saanich Peninsula of Sidney, Central Saanich and North Saanich?” YES – 2,881; NO – 1,727; eligible voters – 9,055.
CENTRAL SAANICH — “Should the District of Central Saanich petition the Province to fund a cost/benefit analysis of an amalgamation of Central Saanich, North Saanich and Sidney?” YES – 3,588; NO – 1,489; eligible voters 14,242.

My advice is to never drink the CRD's Kool Aid now that we suspect something's up.
