Yokohoma Japanese restaurant has been replaced with a Chinese restaurant (finally in my opinion as the Sushi was not up to the standards of the other all you can eat Sushi places in town, ie seemed to be just out of the fridge) , and the restaurant on the corner is now a Sushi restaurant. Is it all the same owners ?

Is there a decent all you can eat place in town?

When I need 40 pieces of tuna sashimi I go to Shiki for AYCE. I've yet to be disappointed.

There's that place on Wharf, but their rules are absolutely insane. You actually have to sign a card indicating you understand and agree to their bizarro rules.

Anybody have a pic of this rule card?

We take out sushi for lunch from Fujiya and 5 mins later we are enjoying it on top of Mt. Tolmie with a million dollar view. Always freshly made, good selection.

I tried Momo Sushi To Go last week. It's a small restaurant on Quadra, right across the street from the police station. In the past that building has been home to an Indian restaurant and several coffee shops.

The tuna nigiri was perfect- Big pieces of fish that tasted ultra fresh and melted in the mouth. I also had a spicy tuna roll, which was surprisingly hot. I was less impressed by a veggie roll, but my wife liked it.

I highly recommend giving this place a try. I was impressed with the quality, and I'm looking forward to going again.

Are there any moving(conveyor belt) sushi restaurants in town?

Love them!

You wouldn't think they'd be as awesome as they are, but they are.

Question:

Where is the cheapest, but decent quality, sushi restaurant in Victoria?

Or any hidden specials you want to tell the group about?

I've heard folks raving about the one in James Bay along Menzies. A die-hard sushi fanatic I know says it's the best place in town.

The one that recently opened on Head Street in Esquimalt is a treat, too. I was there recently and I was very, very surprised by the level of service and overall quality. Top notch, and it sure beats the majority of what passes for sushi in downtown.

Momo Sushi on Quadra St, across from the curling club, is my go-to spot. Delicious, really well priced, lots of variety, run by super friendly folks, and a great loyalty card that gets me a free roll about every third visit. I used to go weekly when I lived around the corner, but since moving last year I still make the 20-minute walk about once a month, or whenever I get the craving.

Oh, and Victoria Sushi at West Side Village in Vic West. Pretty damn good.

In fact the sushi places in downtown are starting to wear thin. Quality has dropped immensely.

You don't say, hey? I haven't been there since June-ish, I think?

Word of mouth. Checked the menu online, and it looks the same as its been for a while so I dunno. It's pricey regardless though. I miss cheap, quality Vancouver sushi.

Nubo on Pandora is our best place overall, I'd say.

The place in St Andrew's Square for a quick, cheap bite.

Koto is pretty decent

Victoria Sushi in Vic West is very good. It's been there for at least a year, I'd say.

They are always so happy to see you. It's as if you're paying their kids' tuition with every purchase they're so thankful you showed up.

Fu Do in Broadmead Village is above average.
