Bedrock is now visible beside the north face - east side and they are getting ready to blast deeper in that area. A crane base has been poured on bedrock beside the east face.

seems pretty premature to have the crane foundation in place can you post a photo of it to see if that is actually what it is

Talked to a supervisor and he said that form on the right is the crane base.

He did say that it was bedrock under the crane base, I assumed the pour was just

to level- with the crane pinned through to the bedrock.  Bedrock is visible behind orange excavator

Looking at the overall footprint of the base, I would say its just relying on the larger size/mass to provide support. Often the anchored bases are much smaller and generally sit directly atop bedrock. Usually with four anchors per base (one in each corner), typically using 2 1/4" diameter bars that have about 20 ft grouted embedment into the bedrock beneath the pad. I don't see any anchor bars extending up into the pad on the above photo. Sometimes the larger bases have to be incorporated within future permanent foundations due to space constraints.

One of the crane foundations was installed today. The crane will be bright bright red, the first we've ever seen of that colour in a full size tower crane.

Know it all.

I'd prefer more of a heritage brick red, maybe a brick veneer to be more respectful of our heritage of heritage buildings.  Tower cranes in langford should have mandated river rock finishing too.

I think that crane piece was placed last week as it appeared on the front page of the TC on Saturday

There are days when I wonder if they will ever fully excavate this site.

At the current rate of progress, I would guess sometime in 2027.
