Much like the WestJet one... If you pay for the $99/year card, you get one $99 companion ticket every year plus you rack up WestJet dollars. Each year we end up flying our family of five back to our home province for under $1300 all-in. (versus the roughly $4000 it would normally be sans the rewards dollars and companion tickets)

The Alaska one seems better. Less restrictions on the companion fare (can also go to Mexico or Hawaii on it); it does cost a bit more though as it is actually $121 USD after taxes and fees.

There is a lower threshold for entry - the Westjet one needs 70k in income for an individual or 120k for a family - that's out of range for most.

Really boils down to where you want to which airline you want to fly with more - if flying around Canada a lot, Westjet is obviously easier.

Alaska is a nicer airline overall than Westjet, particularly when it comes to their planes.
