... I'm not against development but this development is not a good fit for the area!

You may want to get in touch with the NPNA; I suspect you have much in common.

Especially as it is not in your back yard I presume.

I was also considering the size of both developments...385 units over a 26 acre area vs 218 units over a 3.5 acre area...not comparable as far as density is concerned.

You can't compare this to Cordova bay. Most of that development is SFH and some townhomes.

They are mashing this into the middle of a residential block, with SFHs to the north and south inside the same block.   Unless this has been zoned MFD for years, the owners of the homes on Wychbury and Bewdley have every right to be upset.

This isn't like Mason St, where the development was across the street with a setback. This is a major development, almost to the lot line, right in peoples' back yards.  The developer should be told to buy out either the neighbors to the north or south, or to scale back their ambitions.

Not only that but it is a horrendous layout and horrid use of property.

I gotta say this does not seem all that out of whack. My parents live nearby and I drive down Lampson every time I visit. That area of Lampson is a strip of apartments and is separate from the single family homes that make up the neighbourhood between there and Saxe Point park.

The only concern I would have is that it seems like an awful lot of traffic being funneled through a single entrance/exit but that is a design challenge for the developers rather than an objection as it mostly would affect the residents of the complex.

This is why I'm comparing them. The developer is keeping the density of that development more in line with that of the surrounding neighborhood. The density of the English Inn development is way out of line compared to the surrounding neighborhood.

And house prices remain extremely high.  Densify, or build out...those are the options....we are running out of "out".

Construction at this site is well under way. I’m not sure of it’s final form after approval from Esquimalt City Council. Can anyone provide specifics?

The approved drawings are here: https://www.esquimal...ts/DP000072.pdf

Not much info there other than the site plan, though

And 4 years later it's still under way.

The largest condo project in Victoria continues to be a mystery.....zero marketing? One of the completed vacant buildings has been sitting for such a long time roof is getting mossy :) French doors on some of the balconies which you don't see too often on condo projects (typically slides).
