^ Good to know. The photo caption made it sound like they were demolishing the whole thing but I see from the plan they are replacing the decking and adding a new ramp.

After reading the story about it at the TC, I'm surprised it held together too!
http://www.timescolo...-park-1.1185733
I watched the video again and it shows them moving the thing 3 times (!) before the positioning was right in its new home. That makes it even more amazing that it survived the move.
That's pretty cool. I'm impressed it held together, they must have been pretty worried it wouldn't.

That looks awesome! - and of course in usual Victoria style all the moaning and crying and b**ching that went on in the spring particularly on Facebook re: the facelift and "change" was all for naught. Naturally. Predictably. The world did not end, the 'shadow massing' of the new structures does not blot out the sun, Satan has not returned to rule over Humankind for 1000 years, and the view of the Sooke Hills - er, um....never mind you can't seem them from Cadboro Bay.....dammit.

Perhaps this is why Saanich isn't jumping on the speed limit bandwagon, they're too busy building parks that actually make communities more livable.

They'll need strict speed limits now because people will be rushing to get to the new playground. Making a community more livable can also make it less livable.

Parents are supposed to bike up and down Sinclair hill with toddlers strapped into bike trailers to get to the park.

It was more the TIMING of the upgrade that caused much bemoaning in our household... closed all summer SUCKS.
Looks great - just now have to be careful of too-friendly otters at the beach there.

They fixed one of my big beefs of this park with this upgrade. That you couldn't see the ocean in this area. They have brought the level up so you can see the ocean and now feel more connected to the beach portion!!! This is a much improved upgrade to the park.

^ I'm pretty sure the reason they raised the whole area is so that it wasn't underwater 6 months a year, not to improve the view!

Before the seawall was constructed the logs used to wash right into the area where the large grass field is now.
