As usual, my ghost is in the photo.

Except for the chicken livers, and blood pudding, I would eat all of that!

Seems like normal prices to me. If they have real beer and dont bring in a 110db cover band at 10pm I will gladly try it out!

So is it food or liquor primary?

^It must still be food primary because we never heard a peep about any rezoning.

I think I'll skip the mushy peas unless I can be convinced they are delicious. I regard them as a novelty/nostalgia gimmick.

It is a food primary, was in for lunch today and asked. Kids are OK. The food that I tried was very good (scotch egg, pork sandwich w/ great fries!) and the beer list was decent too. The beers are a little pricey, $7-8 for a 16oz beer is about the same as Irish Times except the Times is for a 20oz pint. All in all a nice place.

So, allowing for serving size, we're at $9 local pints - $10 for those outside of BC (do those prices include tax?). A part of me will die when a humble local pint breaks the magic $10 barrier. I will certainly give the Guild a go, but I don't see lengthy sessions.

On a related subject, does anyone think that $20 for the working class pub classic Bangers and Mash is taking the mickey?

Beer's getting pretty pricey. I recall the shock when Irish Times opened up with $7 pints which at the time must have been the priciest in town.

The return of the PST did hike it up 3%.

But there is a wholesale discount from the LDB.

Just as an aside, how much does one pint of draft cost a bar? Presumably it's far cheaper to buy kegs direct from a brewery like Phillips than to buy bottles from the LDB?

Somewhere between 12-15¢ an ounce. 8-10¢ an ounce for rot gut. ($1.60-3.00 for a 20 ounce pour) Domestic only- imports could be up to 20¢.

Draft has profit margins like soda pop and coffee.

$185 for a domestic (Blue, Bud, Canadian etc.) keg of 58.6L = 128 x 16oz. beers

$185/128 beers = $1.44 per 16oz. sleeve

HERE ****pdf is Ontario wholesale pricing, it appears to be slightly higher than here, but not much.

NO pints and definitely expensive. I like the room and the staff but would get pricey drinking $8+ 16oz beers all the time. I read the same thing re: Pacific Northwest beers but the selection is pretty nice all the same.
I've had a couple of meals there already and must say was very good food but again a little spendy.
