And use un-tinted glass to lighten things, maybe make it like a conservatory indoor green space. It looks quite well built so I think re-purposing would be the way to go. Given Chard's project along the east side I don't imagine anything new could be built very high. If that's the case what's left is an odd sliver along Blanshard without much potential for density so new-build may not be an economically attractive idea.
Its too bad Sobey's held on so long. With Chard's property it could have been designed as a single project anchoring the west end of the block. Missed opportunity?

Yes, I think there was a missed opportunity for both lots to be combined into something special here. I reckon that if the Jawl's want to build a new building, there will be lots of shortcomings found in the old structure. But maybe a new use for the old building can work out.

Don't be so sure.

The corner could be great if you maintained the glassed-in concept but changed it from a cone to a cylinder.

I assume the ramp would need to be removed, however. It makes the space dark and I can't imagine why it would be needed going forward.

I like the glass cone as it keeps the corner of the property open and allows a view of the Atrium as you head north on Blanshard Street.

In fact I think the glass features in both of those building compliment each other.

The glass cone can be incorporated into the new design by installing escalators or hydraulic elevators if the ramp is outdated.

As far as intersections go it could be one of the most iconic in the city, except for the parking lot on the south-west corner.

Soon to be a food-truck village!
