Or cedar. It's going to get slimy and slippery over time that's for sure.

Vancouver has a bunch of decks like those, most prominently along Canada Place, and I can't say I've ever found them slippery in rainy weather.

What is that wood, eucalyptus? Cannot believe it is teak.
It shouldn't be too slippy, and will improve grip as it weathers, but will need replacement in due course.
It is actually Ipe, a brazillian wood that has excellent rot resistance and weathering attributes. 3 times more dense than cedar and to quote an article "It has been ASTM-D143 tested and Ipe wood exceeds the American with Disabilities Act requirements for Static Coefficient of friction in a wet environment."

Earlier today a work van broke through a surface tile above what appears to be the underground parking area. Luckily it doesn't look too bad.
Know it all.

Phase 2 progress, with the second provincial government office building and surrounds.
Views from Superior St, then from the plaza/café, and around the back from Michigan St., and the view from Menzies St.
The black waterproofed mound is for that hill that’s part of the landscaping/infrastructure.

Looking good. I imagine that place will do good business in that location.

It's turning out to be quite a nice space. I spent a few hours in Good Earth studying the other day. I really admire the water features.

A lot of the window & cladding installation has been completed on Phase 2, with scaffolding coming down in a lot of sections.
I like that the Phase 2 building is not just a simple mirror-image of the Phase 1 building, and the various reflections and angles from the glass are interesting.
They're working on finishing the sidewalk & curbs on the Superior St frontage.
They're also installing some FN public monuments in the plaza (I count at least 3 large engraved stone slabs with boulders, and engraved pavers).
This entire project seems pretty much 'on time' according to their original timeline from 2015 (Phase 1 occupancy by end-2017, and now Phase 2 occupancy by end of 2019).
I'm wondering if anyone, perhaps someone with contacts in the provincial govt, knows what month the government are planning on moving over? And which ministries are going in this new one?

Biggest missed opportunity of this project: not animating the Superior Street ground level for the entire block.

Is it still the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development? That's what was reported by the TC back when the first building opened.
