They have also started the work of taking apart and demolishing the house at Dock and Dallas, where a couple of the heritage houses will be relocated. Anyone know what the timetable will be for the moves of the heritage houses?

I thought all the old houses were staying in the Leg precinct. This move doesn't bother me one bit mind you. I think those will look quite nice on Dallas Road.

Two James Bay heritage homes will be relocated from the 500-block of Michigan Street to a site at Dallas Road and Dock Street as part of a heritage preservation commitment by Concert Properties and Jawl Properties.
The real-estate development duo have partnered to build Capital Park, a mixed-use office, commercial and residential project bordered by Superior, Menzies, Government and Michigan streets in Victoria's James Bay neighbourhood. The multi-phased development will include some 235,000 square feet of office space, 20,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space and up to 175 residences.
The six acre property has been the location of five relatively well preserved heritage buildings (two along Michigan Street and three along Superior Street), all of which will be retained, fully restored and repurposed by Concert and Jawl from commercial usage to residential. Two of the Superior Street homes have already been relocated to their Michigan Street sites while one awaits its final move from a temporary location at Menzies and Michigan streets. [Full article]

Cool. A long time ago (circa 1990) when I lived at 350 Douglas St., they moved a house, and they suddenly also found they had to move my car in the middle of the night. They just towed it around the corner, and left a note for me on the sidewalk where it had been.

The area deserves quality development and I like this so far. Good on the Jawls, I think this one is in safe hands.
I used to work in one of the old building, so looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I think the reason the houses are being moved through town to a barge is due to the expense of having Hydro remove and replace the lines across the street.
However I did check out an alternate route along Superior to Douglas where there would have been some lines to move.
After that there were no overhead lines on Douglas or Dallas Road, but there were tree branches on Dallas Road that would have needed to be removed.
But that's just an amateur opinion.

Campbell is hoping to erect the crane on January 26th. The delay is from the crane being in really poor shape when it arrived. The electrical had to be fully rebuilt and the structure had a lot of damage. They are on site today working on the crane to get it ready to meet that date.
