Two new character trailers:

 

In a newly released video profile, Gracepoint actor Kevin Rankin talks about his character, Paul Coates.

 

When the body of a young body is found on the beach of the tiny northern Californian community of Gracepoint, it falls to Paul as town minister to meet the spiritual needs of the population. But Paul, who disappeared from the town a while back only to return as a man of God, may be harbouring his own secrets. 

 

"He's a guy that really means well," says Kevin of Paul. "He's actually for the good of everyone and he's a bit inexperienced but he's learning on the job." Paul is also an old friend of the Solanos, and the clip offers some hints as to how close their early relationship may have been.

In a new video clip from Fox TV, Kendrick Sampson profiles Dean Iverson, the character he plays inGracepoint. The new ten part murder drama is the America remake of the award-winning UK seriesBroadchurch.

Dean Iverson is the boyfriend of Chloe Solano (Madalyn Horcher), the sister of murder victim Danny. A little older than Chloe, he has ambitions to go to college and works as a busboy in his uncle's restaurant to pay his way. The character is an expanded version of Bradchurch's Dean Thomas, played by Jacob Anderson.

"He's a bit of an edgy character because of the secrets that he's hiding and the clandestine relationship with [the Solanos'] daughter," Kendrick explains "Just like a lot of kids who don't have their parents around, they look for love in sometimes the wrong places."

The "wise beyond her years" Chloe is the daughter of Beth and Mark Solano and sister to the murdered Danny. Under the twin pressures of press and police scrutiny following her brother's death, Chloe's secrets start to emerge, including the existence of her older boyfriend Dean (Kendrick Sampson).

 

"She's a typical teenager who is struck by such a horrible moment," Madalyn says, "And when this does happen a lot of her secrets come to the surface, and a lot of the things that any teenager doesn't really want to show their parents really kind of comes out."

I just re-watched the fist episode of Broadchurch.  What a great show.  

 

Particularly good acting from Jodie Whittaker.

 

Let me tell you, from what I've seen of these GP clips, the first episode (and the second, according to industry critics/insiders that have now seen 2) is nearly a shot-for-shot, word-for-word copy.  But that's OK, let's face it, at least 95% of the GP audience will have never seen BC.
