The former Blue Roof Inn on Douglas Street across from Mayfair Mall is being renovated into the Hotel Zed, a motel branded as "rebels against the ordinary." The photos on the website live up to that line, that's for sure!

That looks awesome. Very fresh look for what is still essentially a motel. If they can get the colours as bright as the pictures, and all the rooms as cheery looking, I think they will do fine, providing Trip Advisor agrees.

This is a growing concept for reno'ing motels in North America. There are quite a few in San Diego like this. I had hoped that the owners of the Capital City Center [sic] Hotel would have done something like this. A Vegas theme for the hotel pool bar would have been awesome.

Just heard that this is a venture by Mandy Farmer, the head of Accent Inns. She's good at what she does.

On the downside, the Butterdell had to disappear to make room for the hotels lobby.
I was disappointed, as I rolled by to check the 'dells hours over the stat holiday, to discover this.

Hoping they get a yummy funky food partner (Cabin 12? Cecilia Creek Eatery?)!

They better JUST relocate - they are YUMMY and we just bought their Groupon. If they fold, they will just reconfirm my thoughts on Groupon offerings

Driving by I could see a partition and it's like cat tails in a meadow or 'creek' so I'm thinking Cecilia *is* moving in. But maybe I'm just optimistic.
