Vancouver's highly acclaimed Meat & Bread will be opening a location in the Churchill Building on Yates Street just beside Interactivity Board Games, apparently.

Meat & Bread has two wildly popular locations in Vancouver. Their concept can be best described as the recently opened Roast in the Public Market and a bakery rolled into one.

You've made my day! Meat & Bread is amazing. I went there at least twice a week when I worked in downtown Vancouver.

This should be in direct competition with Pig?

It's really in direct competition with that sandwich shop in the Victoria Public Market, down to the big ol' porchetta sitting in front of the shop for everyone to gawk at (well... I gawk at it).

Roast is essentially the same sort of place and likely borrowed the concept from Meat & Bread.

Roast makes some mighty fine meat, I have to say.  A little pricey, but it's pretty darn tasty.

Great news for Victoria! M&B is an awesome little place. Make sure you leave enough time, though ;)

(Not the owner of, nor am I associated with, the Blue Fox Café, in any way.)

My girlfriend saw some job postings referencing a July opening date, but it doesn't appear as though any work has gone on in the space in the Churchill Building (still 'for lease' the last time I looked).

Work has stopped.  The subfloor is in, and it's all neat and tidy, but all work equipment is gone, and a large for lease sign is in the window now.  Maybe it fell through.

All's good we're told. They'll resume the next phase of work in a week.

I don't think the for lease sign ever came down, come to think of it.

Ya, it did, I walk by every day.  It was down, and it went back up.  Anyway, hoping for the best of course.

I got a good peek inside yesterday.  Some equipment arriving.  I'd say it's 30-60 days away.

This could be open in 14 days, by the looks of it.
