Just imagine what that $10 million penthouse will look like. The quintessential Victoria view and location.

$10.8M penthouse that's a short walk from, and directly overlooking, the provincial Parliament... I wonder who bought it.

- https://victoria.cit...ghts/?term=10.8“What I can say is the purchaser and his wife have a long-standing affinity for Vancouver Island’s natural surrounds and particularly Victoria with its arts scene, its culinary experiences and its proximity to major centres like Seattle and Vancouver. Those aspects played a key role in the client’s decision to invest in the Customs House project and choose to make Victoria his home.”
It doesn’t sound from that quote that Victoria is his existing home, but maybe that’s a bit of a ruse.

But the developer would be happy with the opportunity to present the project’s available residences to Mr. Gustavson, should he be interested.

Those visitors will be a few years away! A mutated form of COVID could become what we know already as a common cold...... which has no cure. We already know what COVID can do. There maybe no quick magic bullet.
So with all that has happened with COVID, is it time to rethink the speculation tax and in particular ownership by Canadians from other provinces? Victoria's tax base is going to be hit hard with the possibility of no cruise ships, international tourists and fewer Canadians willing to travel and that will translate into even more business failures. Sure property values may and will drop, but what will replace all the lost revenue to the cities tax base????
Things can only get worse if long term planning isn't discussed and changes made. Homelessness is becoming even worse, I know many people that travel to Victoria and the first thing they notice is that the city has a BIG problem. They won't be coming back.
Time to fix the problem before the Garden city looses everything.........
