Whoa, I'd never heard of Argyle Attic until today. And I get around a bit. I mean I knew it was there, never knew a name for it.

We talked about it the last time we were at a bar together. You said you didn't understand why there was a need for a whiskey bar Of course it was likely one of your devil's advocacy moments.

Oh a, we did, I recall now. But I still don't know if I ever knew it by that name.

Baro, it sounds like you're the pretentious one.
People of all ages go to all sorts of bars in Victoria.
I've gone to Veneto wearing a suit one time and flip flops another...my service has always been excellent.

Ha ha! Ya I don't get too worked up because of the crowd. Yates St. Taphouse is alright most nights, too.

Most places are happy to serve you in jeans and a t-shirt.
At a place like Veneto you could have a table of people wearing suits next to a table of people in sundresses and flip flops. I've gone to the Bengal Lounge several times dressed casually.

Victoria bars are cool like that. You can dress however you want and nobody judges you (except Baro ). This city is too small for niche bars to survive.

Yikes Baro, that was rough. If you're writing off almost all of the places to go out in a city because of your perception of people then you might not be built for going out.

The reno just spruced things up. No major changes, really.

Off topic but speaking of Wilkinson, you should read his recent experience with a Robocoin ATM. It's amazing and maddening.

I missed going to Doubles last night but I hear they successfully didn't ruin it from all my friends.
After going to Barts a few more times since it's re-opened the general consensus seems to be that the food quality has gone down. Almost all their signature dishes are gone, prices are up, quality is down. No more schnitzel, no more mexican chicken burger, and their new lamb burger is a bit of a flop, just can't compare to My Chosen's or Ferris'. Barts use to have surprisingly good specials as well, so far we haven't encountered anything particularly enticing. Everyone else has been describing their food as "ok" or "so so" and I think we've covered the entire menu by this point. Their Seafood Caesar is reportedly still pretty good and still nearly a meal's worth of seafood, and it's on special Sundays.
I've been going out less and less, don't drink, and usually have dinner before going out, so my opinion on local pubs and lounges is absolutely worthless anyways.
