The land lease industry is trying to move away from the term "trailer parks", towards "manufactured home communities". Whether you call them mobile homes or manufactured homes, they're the same thing. Modular homes are something different, and can have concrete foundations. Hawthorne Village has modular homes. Park models are meant for recreational use and don't meet BC Building Code requirements for full-time residential use. They actually have wheels on the frame under them, so they're the most 'mobile' of the lot.
Single wide manufactured homes come in one piece on the back of a truck, whilst double-wides come in two pieces and are stitched together on site. There are a number of manufacturers in BC, including Moduline out of Penticton. They've been building them for about 40 years.
Oceanside RV Resort in Saanichton, on Tsawout land, allows for annual stays in RV's or 5th wheel trailers.
