Don't think he made his money buying things "because he couldn't find a reason not to". I wonder what the plans are.

Maybe he'll sell it off as quarter-share units.  $90M / 477 suites is $189,000 per suite.  $50K gets you a quarter-share.  And he holds, and leases out the food/beverage/catering/banquet operations.

Say goodbye to the bus depot. He hates that thing. I predict he will follow through with the development plan that was first brought up almost ten years ago.

The Bosas would have my eternal gratitude if they rid the downtown of this hideous eyesore.

True but then where would it go?

I bet 95% of Victoria residents (and even less tourists) don't know that it's on the same property.  ie. I don't think it reflects poorly on the Empress, in most minds.

Bosa was on CTV saying he doesn't want any eyesores on his property. It's pretty clear what he was talking about.

It does open a can of worms. Search back in these forums for the depot relocation saga.

Was there not a proposal for something in the Rock Bay area?

For the amount and frequency of buses that come and go from it, I don't even know that is has to be all that complex, or large.  People seem to be capable of jumping on the PCL from stops along the route that are just BC Transit stops.  And people can buy tickets online.

Whatever they do there, I hope hope hope it's not something in a style that mocks/imitates the existing wings of the hotel.

You need a permanent depot for baggage and courier, plus driver layover and changeover. Can't use city streets and transit bus stops for these activities.

That's pretty cool. We need more things like that around here in the winter :)

Speaking of rinks, the public skating times at the SOFMC just plain suck.

Is that a more accessible facility? I never think of it.
