Hmm.. sorry, for some reason the forum isn't constraining the image to the reduced size linked to on Flickr.

It is one hell of a big concrete pump!  I'll have to google to see the physics behind it - pumping that concrete up 56 meters and what the flow rate is.  Then you see the tiny little concrete buckets the crane lifts up, I guess due to weight they can bring up more at a time.

Update:  Well, seems the world's biggest concrete pump is 70 meters, that should do for Victoria.  Made by Putzmeister. Hmm...

Update 2:  Darn, I lied.  86 meter pump:

That west wall is butt-ugly. I hope there is a plan to dress it up (other than just paint) to disguise those concrete blocks. It could be a very long time before something is built on the adjacent property that covers this facade.

On a more positive note, 6 floors have now been poured so the building is at about 1/3 of its full height.

Alas, it would appear that a coat of paint is the best we'll see on this part of the building

That wall is like that (I'm assuming) because of fire code and being next to another property.

Oh I am 100% certain it is. I just wish it wasn't so ugly. If I thought the property next door was soon to be redeveloped I wouldn't care, but I suspect that's not going to happen for a long time. With 3 directly adjacent towers (when Legato and 989 are completed) there will be limited options on what can get built on the LEAF property. Then again, The Wave has it's semi-permanent green mesh so perhaps aesthetics aren't all that important in this area.

Slowly but somehow also suddenly this is onto the 9th floor, so about halfway to full height...cool!

I like how svelte the tower portion seems from the Yates Side. This might end up being one of those buildings that actually should have been taller (as distinguished from the "this building should have been taller" rubber stamp).

Yes Legato,is looking great from Yates, slim and glassy. Would truly look better at 23 stories though, and those fins at the top could still ruin the party. Also corner glass looks great, I'm assuming Legato has air conditioning? And are the odds of water leakage greater with corner glass? Although I'd think the repairs would be cheaper.

>>>and those fins at the top could still ruin the party<<<

Not sure what that means but I love the top of Legato ... separates it from the rest ... ...

But should Legato really have separation?
