That's an appeal play though, not up to the umpire to call - in fact he can not call. The defensive team must initiate an appeal.

There's a lot of discussion around whether he touched third base. From one angle it looks like he didn't at all, but from another it looks like he got the edge or corner.
Today's games were pretty forgettable. Jays were within one out of winning the earlier one today, but of course the Cards homered and prolonged the game so they could win it. The later game, eugh. A forgettable series, except for the Tuesday game.

The Blue Jays managed their first consecutive win, and first series win, of the season. Ending the first month 8-17, 0.320, 8.5 games back.
Related, Jose Bautista breached 1K hits with the Blue Jays, now at #5 in franchise history.
3-game series at the Yankees starting tomorrow. That's going to be interesting as the Yankees are strong again this year.

It was a good win against a tough pitcher. Some of the veterans seem to be coming around (hitting). Too bad about Sanchez.

Archer was in very good form today. I almost felt bad for him when his relief gave up the lead. Hitting has perked up in the past couple weeks, hopefully that bears out the next month.

Let us never speak of it again. Except perhaps that game at the Cardinals, April 25 2017.

KC Royals are now worse than us! We are about 3.5 games back of wild-card.

Blue Jays just got their second series win of the season after taking 2 out of three from the Rays (at the Trop, no less).
Now 11-20 (Royals are 10-19), 0.355, 9.5GB.
Solo homerun from Darwin Barney to take the lead 2-1. Osuna in the 9th sat down the first two, then let a couple on to ratchet the tension before the final out.
Bullpen did good work this series. Joe Biagini did his first major league start, 4 innings, < 60 pitches, 4 strikeouts, 1 unearned run.

What's up with joey bats? The way things are going this will either be his last pro season or the regression to the mean is going to be FUN.

Ya, good for Biagini.
Darwin Barney the unlikely hero. He's not a big guy, hard to know how tough it is for him to put one in the stands. But he hit that one real solid.

Ya, our supposed best hitter can not stay in that role while hitting .159.

The thinking has been to eventually stretch Biagini out so he can be a starter. Kinda forced into it today what with the pitcher situation. I think Estrada and Liriano are FAs after this season, so the Jays will need to get the rotation figured out.
Mr. Bats' hitting has been disappointing this season, and surprising given he was mashing it in preseason and at the WBC. Then again, he's decent at watching the ball, walks regularly, and makes the pitchers work for his outs.
Totally did not expect that HR from Barney.
Cleveland Indians going to Rogers Centre tomorrow, presumably with Edwin "Parrot Man" Encarnacion in tow. That will be interesting.

I agree that Bautista is good at reading the pitch. That said, he strikes out lots too. As many sluggers do.

Second game hosting the Mariners tonight. Joe Biagini is having his second start also. Rumor has it that Gibbons will let him out of the pen for about 70 pitches.

Solid outing by Biagini today. 5 innings, zero runs, zero walks, four hits, three strikeouts. I think they're onto something with this guy.
Jays won the game also, 4-0. Now 15-21, .417, 8.5 back.

With Barney, Goins and Carrera playing so well, it will be a tough call when the hurt veterans are back.
Great outing by Biagini with an even better interview after the game.

Blue Jays now have their fourth straight win, third straight series win, and are positioned to sweep the Mariners tomorrow.
16-21, .432, 7.5 games back of the lead, 3.5 behind the wild card.
A 3-run HR from Bautista (3rd in 4 games) and some small ball made this one happen. Not Stroman's best outing today, though I think he got the win also. Four stolen bases, including home and a double steal, and one by Maile. Pillar now leads the league in hits. Bizarre.
