Baseball gods at work.

That's all it can be.  And one at 1st, then one at 2nd, one at 3rd.  You can't make that up without divine intervention.

Some team should make Texas an offer for Elvis Andrus. I expect he can be picked up pretty cheaply over the next few days.

Except there is no player movement or even negotiations at this time of year.

I think it will depend on which way the fans wave their towels.

At the last game in Toronto most fans were waving the white towels in a counter-clockwise direction if you were looking at the towel from above... and the Blue Jays won the game.

But there must more a more scientific reason for which way the towel twirls.

Do left-handed fans twirl in the opposite direction?

Do they twirl in the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere?

To test this theory try the towel twirl at home without thinking about it.

Pick up a white towel and see which twirl direction feels right.

Good...see that didn't feel bad at all did it?

Now get ready for the game tomorrow.

Crap!

What if the fan in centre field didn't catch the fly ball?

At some point they need to implement a better system for calling balls and strikes. The umpire behind the plate, an off-field umpire viewing a special feed from the pitcher's POV, and a pitch-tracker system should all submit their calls at the same moment. Majority rules, and the verdict should be indicated immediately on boards in the park. Circle or X. The umpire can announce the verdict if he likes but he doesn't need to because everyone on the field would be able to see it.

It would appease the traditionalists by keeping the umpire involved in calling balls and strikes but it would fix the problem that has been there since day one re: the umpire being a personality in the drama. Umpires have biases, they can get caught up in the energy of the game, they can make mistakes, they can be bought. But when you add an electronic judge and another human judge in a quiet room a thousand miles away who doesn't even know what the score is, I think you'd mitigate most of these. Obviously MLB itself could still rig the system to favour a particular team or to favour home teams or to extend a series, etc. But there's nothing anyone can do about a league managing outcomes so why even talk about it?

What an exciting ride watching them the last part of the season and playoffs.

Ya, it takes a lot to get there.  I don't think anyone can say the Blue Jays were better than KC.  It was gonna take some luck like that crazy Texas game to get them to game 7, yet alone the WS.

KC is a very good team, no stars just guys who can play.
That said, the BJs delivered an exciting ride. Dont know if they will want to sign Price, he's gonna be very pricey and his playoff record isn't great.
"There are guys who get you there and there are guys who get you through", as the saying goes.

I think on Monday there is going to be a pretty good Jay/Mariners all-inclusive trip announced from Victoria (to Seattle).

The Jays play there Mo-We, September 19-21.

Mariners are off to a good start too.

OK, it's the HarbourCats, Wilson's and Flight Centre that put a deal together.

$689 CDN per person, taxes in, based on double occupancy.  That's game tickets, bus, ferry, hotel.  So everything but meals.

Wilson's Bus from Victoria on Monday, September 19, via BC Ferries.

Two nights at Tulalip Casino Resort (Monday and Tuesday night), abut a $260US value per night hotel room.  Tulalip is next to the Seattle Premium Outlets for shopping.

3 Mariners games, including transportation to and from Tulalip, Monday and Tuesday nights, Wednesday day game.  Tickets are 3rd base line.

Bus back to Victoria Wednesday 21st evening.

That's all I know, the HarbourCats office is taking reservations I guess.
