I was at Fred's announcement meeting yesterday and he has organized quite a team of supporters already. He is going to let out his platform in stages in order to keep the discussion alive. He mentioned that a 3% increase in taxes every year is unsustainable, and he would like to use innovative ways to reduce the tax burden from residential properties. One of these ways is to have a more accountable regional government, which is why I guess he is running for a CRD seat as well. I think he said that our portion of taxes paid to the CRD can be reduced because it is not spent wisely.

What's his take on amalgamation, and when you say residential taxes, do you mean he only wants to reduce the tax burden for residents and not businesses?

I am not sure about his amalgamation stand. If I understood correctly he doesn't think that shifting tax burden to business from residential was a good idea. I think he want's to explore ideas that reduce tax increases.

I was there too.

I wished I was wearing my VV t-shirt so I could be recognized. I think John N might have been there too, I was hoping to talk to him. Too bad I don't know what he looks like.

Oh, right, I don't have a VV t-shirt.

That was a pretty energetic rally, that I could tell from the short time that I was there. This guy seems to be well liked and his background is from Science and Education.....not car sales. :)

Should we axe the Dr. from his title or will he be on the ballot with it?

We'll have to get you a t-shirt.
