CNN) -- Kim Jong Un didn't show up to the anniversary marking his father's election to the Workers' Party on Wednesday. He wasn't at the parliamentary assembly late last month either.

Analysts are puzzled and speculation is running rampant about why Kim has been out of the public eye. He hasn't made a public appearance in over a month, and was reportedly last seen at a concert with his wife September 3.

Where is he...I want to know?

I think he was last seen with Dennis Rodman doing some dribbling.

Hmm. I wonder if he's seriously sick (physically, besides mentally!).

To read Crash Davis’ open letter in its entirety, click here

“This is not a decision I have made lightly,” he added. “And while I’m pretty sure my daughters are a little bummed that ‘dad with cool radio job’ is being replaced by ‘dad with Government Public Affairs job’, my family is excited to get more of me. And that, as I’m sure you will agree, is the most important thing.”

One of the things I feel radio has always struggled with is the end of the announcer/listener relationship. Most of the time announcers are on your radio one day, and gone the next like they’ve been abducted by aliens. There are many valid reasons for this, depending on the situation, but none of them really honor or take into account that you as a listener have developed a relationship and bond, which is just ripped away. It sucks, right? Well, I’m grateful that I get to leave on my own terms, with the opportunity to say goodbye in a way that respects the relationship we have built.

Twenty-two years on air with the same organization in today's media - and especially radio climate - is quite the achievement and a far cry from the prevailing atmosphere back in the old days. Good for him for leaving on his own terms because I know many people in the field, particularly over the last decade, haven't (and don't) get this option. The Canadian radio landscape is littered with under-employed and unemployed "ex" radio jocks. Good luck to him....
