Seems nice now. I was down there the other day. There was a ton of parking along Dallas. Tons of people walking and riding. Saw people in wheelchairs and people on bikes using the MUP. People with dogs in the off-leash areas. People running along the path. Seemed like a lot of people just taking in the beauty, not one person looked grumpy or annoyed.

It has a whole new look!

I tried taking my mom there yesterday, the parking was full. She has mobility issues and can’t walk easily from Dallas down to the point.

We lost a real gem there for no reason other than politics. I’m so tired of it, but that’s what it’s all about, to wear you down little by little.

At least we’re finally admitting that downtown and the city centre need help. It only took five or six years.

...We lost a real gem there for no reason other than politics...

And that is the most egregious part of this change - why it was done.

The entirety of the other side of the point was lifeless. Nobody at the picnic tables, no kites. Just a packed mini parking lot and a couple of vehicles doing the three point turn at the end.

The changes made to Clover Point were possibly the most ill-conceived decision of any local government in a generation.

Especially since they promised they wouldn’t touch it, when outlining changes to the area from the sewage pipe work. Then immediately after sewage pipe work completes, they slice up Clover Point.

In a few years people will forget. I guess that’s how politics works, just ram through whatever you want, pretend you don’t hear the feedback, and move on.

Clover Point parking signs are at the wrong height

The posts at Clover Point with signs for disabled parking need be removed or adjusted. The signs, big and bulky, and at window height, impose on every view from a car window.

How about letting us disabled folk see the wonderful views too, without the obstructive signs. They do not look good in photos!

This is an easy fix. Just cut the posts down to a reasonable height where they do not intrude on the view.

Clover Point in 2023 is a monument to the CoV's dogma-driven stupidity.

Clover Point in 2023 is a monument to the CoV's  recognition of the needs of more than just those with driving permits and use them most of the time.

How do those block the view? Like ya, maybe a wee little tiny bit is blocked. Big deal.

Generally it’s best not to stick signage in the sight lines of a viewpoint. We could do better, but we often choose the lowest common denominator.

Isn't this how most Victorians choose their city council members?
